The reopening of Vancouver’s chic Yaletown boutique Basquiat wa sa team effort as NHL stars joined Cristina Linden (über-stylish wife of Vancouver Canucks player Trevor Linden) and co-owner Liselott Montesano for champagne cocktails and retail therapy in their glamorous new digs. The expanded store (which stocks hard-to-find Euro-American labels for men and women) had hockey wives and fashionistas fawning over the edgy separates and asymmetrical designs of Montesano’s Tiara jewelry. Local actress (and Basquiat manager) Debbie Podowski, recently seen on the Vancouver-shot TV series Men in Trees, offered style advice to shoppers nibbling on delectable hors d’oeuvers by Glowbal Grill & Satay Bar. – Nicole Harvey in Vancouver
